Math - We are finishing up our unit on Number Sense with rounding to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000 in a 4-digit number. Next, we will be moving on to Patterning.
French - In French class, students have been practicing looking up words in a French/English dictionary, working on reading comprehension as well as learning how to "bump up" their Journal writing by adding more detail.
English - We began the year with a unit about our names. Students learned about what their names mean and talked about things they liked about their name. We are now reading "Because of Winn-Dixie" and working on our visualizing, predicting and making connections to the text.
Social Studies - In Social Studies the students are learning all about the Canadian Government with Mme Mailloux. This unit is extra meaningful this year with the elections coming up.
I always like to start out the year having the students create a self-portrait. I take pictures of the students for them to use when they are drawing, which helps them see the shape of their facial features. The students worked really hard on their portraits and they look great!! I love having them hanging up at the front of our classroom.
Can you guess who some of these self-portraits are?
