On Friday, the students were given most of the morning and part of the afternoon to work on their habitat dioramas for science. The students worked really hard creating different plant and animal species for their habitat. Most groups still need some more time to complete, so stay tuned to see pictures of their finished products!

Last Friday it rained....ALL day. It was gloomy and grey and the students had to have indoor recess all day!! I decided that art was the perfect way to brighten up a gloomy day. So I got out the paints and brushes, we talked about warm and cool colours as well as cubism, and the students got to work painting their Christmas trees. First, they had to draw a large triangle in the middle of their page. Then, they had to draw lines (using a ruler) horizontally, vertically and diagonally across their page. This step took a lot of concentration and a few second attempts, however, they got it eventually. The student were to paint each section inside of their tree with only cool colours. This part was fun because the students mixed paint to come up with their own unique colours. They then used warm colours to paint the sections outside their Christmas tree.
We left the artwork to dry over the weekend, then on Monday the students used pastels to trace all the lines on their page. I think they turned out beautifully! They are now hanging above out coats and really brighten up our classroom :) |
