This month flew by, as October often does! We had some absolutely beautiful fall days combined with quite a few rainy, dreary ones. Nevertheless, we have been doing lots of fun things with our learning. Here are some snapshots of what's been going on. Math In math, the students continued with their learning about patterns. We focused mainly on growing patterns and pattern rules, which will eventually lead to algebra. Above, the students created a growing pattern with tiles and had to graph their patterns on grid paper. I encouraged them to think of their pattern in algebraic term such as (Figure # x ___ = # of tiles.) Science/French: This has to be one of my favourite projects I've ever done with grade 4's! The students had so much fun creating and decorating their pet rocks this week! They were excited to show their rocks to their classmates and tell the class all about their rocks "adventures". They worked hard on their written assignment as well. Students had to complete the preliminary page, the graphic organizer for their story and their final good copy. Way to go grade 4's! How cute are these pet rocks!? Art Check our these beautiful warm/cool colour fall leaves and sparkly Geodes the students worked on in Art class. Combining art with other subjects is my favourite! Indoor Recess Fun!
