Here are some of the students with the "Cube animals." :)
We have been learning about 3D solids as well as volume during math class. The students have had lots of fun in this unit, including building prisms and pyramids using a variety of materials. Students worked on the skeleton of a variety of solids as well as created their own "paper nets" to build solids (which they discovered was NOT easy!). They also learned about how to draw and shade 3D solids in art class. I am loving our new bulletin board! We explored the volume of 3D solids using linking cubes. Students learned how to find the volume without having to count each cube.

The students had a lovely (and a tad chilly) day at Ska-Nah-doht first nations conservation area. The students learned about how the First Nations people lived by preserving the land and the different roles each person played in their community. We had the opportunity to explore the Long Houses in the Palasad as well the the indoor artifact museum. We were even able to enjoy an outdoor picnic lunch!
