Last week we began our Number Sense unit on Multiplication and Division. We started off my looking at different ways to represent multiplication (ie, repeated addition, equal groups, arrays etc). We then looked a little but more at Arrays, and how we can arrange a multiplication into rows and columns. The students enjoyed practicing their arrays with a fun multiplication game. They had to roll two dice and draw the array that those two numbers would represent. The first player who had no space on the board to draw their array lost. It's a simple game you could play at home, all you need is grid paper, markers and dice!
